Veneers

As we all know aged teeth are more likely to have marks, fissures or an uneven appearance such wear, discoloration, etc.. and it will often increase as a result of eating habits (soft drink, tea, or coffee consumption, smoking, medication use, etc.) with time your teeth will become discolored. This is why dental veneers will solve most of your dental cosmetic issues. Dental veneers is a custom-made shell with tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front side of your teeth; either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth, or to protect a damaged tooth surface. Veneers can be made directly inside your mouth by your dentist. At Empire Dental Center, our team of dentists will offer you a cosmetic procedure with dedication, excellence and zero pain. We provide two main types of material used to fabricate a veneer:

Composite

A composite veneer may be directly placed (built-up in the mouth), or indirectly fabricated by a dental technician and then fused to the tooth using resin cement.

Dental Porcelain

Dental porcelain veneers considered as cosmetic dentistry as well because they create a bright, white smile with beautifully aligned teeth and a natural look. Durability: Porcelain veneers will last between five to ten years. To make your veneers last longer, follow a good oral hygiene program and visit your dentist for check-ups on a regular basis.

Veneers have a lot of advantages:
  • They provide a natural tooth appearance.
  • The gum tissue tolerates porcelain well.
  • They are stain resistant.
  • The color of a porcelain veneer can be selected to make dark teeth appear whiter.
  • Veneers offer a conservative approach to changing a tooth's color and shape.
  • Veneers generally don't require the extensive shaping prior to the procedure. Dental veneers do not require any special care. Continue to follow good oral hygiene practices including brushing and flossing as you normally would do along with dental visits

Lumineers

The Lumineers name applies to crowns known as Lumineers 360 Full Coverage Crowns that use the same Cerinate porcelain and thin design to create minimally invasive crowns. Today, several dental filling materials are available. Teeth can be filled with gold, porcelain, silver or tooth-colored, plastic, and glass materials called composite resin fillings.

The steps of filling a tooth are:
  • step 1 : Anesthetic shot in order not to feel any pain
  • step 2 : Placing a rubber dam to get your mouth ready
  • step 3 : Removing the tooth decay
  • step 4 : Replacing the decayed tooth with a filling

Whitening

Never search for a whitening system, search for the right whitening dentist! Here's how to pick the best whitener. Don't place your faith in a particular product, brand name or flashy advertising campaign. Pick the best dentist. At Empire Dental Center, our dentists will be already using a great whitener!

How whiteners work?

Teeth surfaces are made up of thousands of tiny dentinal tubules hollow structures stacked horizontally, like thin straws. They're extremely porous and absorb pigments from food and drink. Anything that can stain a white T-shirt can discolor your teeth. All the bleaching methods use peroxide; whether in gel, strip, or liquid form to dissolve surface stains to whiten teeth.

Before you bleach

A first timer should always consult our team of dentists before trying any tooth whitener, even an over-the-counter product, because not all teeth react to whitening the same way. Some types of dental work (like caps, crowns, and veneers) don't take to lightening because peroxide can't penetrate them. Stains caused by antibiotics, like tetracycline, are also tricky, because they can occur in the layers inside the tooth, which brighteners can't reach. Your dentist will be able to advise you about the best method for you. Many methods are used to whiten, below most of them:

Tray-Based Tooth Whiteners

Tray-based tooth whitening systems, involve filling a mouth guard-like tray with a gel whitening solution which contains a peroxide bleaching agent. The tray is worn for a period of time, generally from a couple of hours a day to every day during the night for up to four weeks (depending on the degree of discoloration and desired level of whitening).

Whitening:

In-office bleaching provides the quickest way to whiten teeth. With in-office bleaching, the whitening product is applied directly to the teeth. These products can be used in combination with heat, a special light, or a laser. Results are seen in only one, 30- to 60-minute treatment.
