FAQ

The Curriculum is a program of study that supports active, hands on, inquiry based learning which will promote your child’s progress in all developmental areas. We want your child to love reading. Our literacy-rich classrooms and various learning experiences provide early learning experiences to create a solid foundation on which your child will build their education. We recruit staff that are professional, experienced and well qualified. In addition, we commit to providing your child with plentiful opportunities to explore their own interests, facilitated by our staff, so that they can develop at their own rate. Our staff will ensure that your child is challenged so that they progress quickly.
We encourage you to come and visit! We feel it is important to share our philosophy for learning with you and the most effective way to do this is by having a tour. Please contact us by phone ( ), email () or through our website. We have allocated times slots available where you can be shown around. We can also accommodate you at other times at your request.
You can do this in three ways: through our website, by calling us or on our app. We will then ask you to complete an application form and pay a non-refundable registration fee of KD_____.

The principal will review your application form and liaise with our Registrar to suggest a suitable time to meet you and your child. Where possible we will invite your child for an informal, playful assessment (usually Pre-KG, KG). We do like to meet every child that applies. After this point we will consider how best we can provide for your child. We’ll make a decision within a few days and we’ll contact you. We will require you to pay an Admission Fee prior to your child starting at HAMEL AL MESK. You will also need to submit the required documents for your child and family.

Depending on availability we may be able to offer a place for your child immediately in your desired branch, if not we will check our other locations for availability or your child’s name will be placed on a waiting list. Places are offered on a first come, first served basis to families on the waiting list. Full enrolment occurs when fees have been paid and all required documents have been received. Please see the Admissions Process section of the website for details on which documents.

We aim to ensure adult to student ratios are kept low to ensure a happy, safe and productive learning environment.

Our curriculum has a strong focus on Communication Skills. We know that sometimes children can’t share their thoughts with you. For some it is because they haven’t got the skills yet, for others it is simply that what happened in the morning seems like it was a lifetime ago by the evening! We will provide your child with a voice through Parent Communication System that will be used regularly by us for you to review and respond to. Personal communication is key so we may also share information with you during drop offs and collection. In addition we will regularly update our website and social media applications with photographs of their activities. We are committed to sharing their progress with you in many ways. Sometimes we will be so excited to share their achievement with you that we will send a snapshot of it home on the very same day! We will provide a termly summary and an end of year report which will detail how your child has made progress, their particular strengths and any areas for development.

At Hamel Al Mesk Nurseries, we strongly feel that learning through play is paramount. We also believe that sensory, messy, tactile, risky, real-life and spontaneous learning opportunities are what help to bring the best out of your child. Our activities will both be a mix of taught and self-initiated, ranging across all areas of the curriculum. We place an emphasis on Language and Literacy learning.

If you register your child for our aftercare provision, they will be busy consolidating skills through play in the activities room, outside on the bikes and trikes, making crafts, using technology and learning new games, all under the guidance of our skilled teaching assistants. If you register your child for a specialist teacher led club, they might learn a new language, discover science skills, perform a play or create an art masterpiece.
